Addition Facts That Stick
By Kate Snow / Well-Trained Mind Press

Help your child master addition facts in just fifteen minutes a day - without flash cards or rote memorization! Addition Facts that Stick is unique because addition facts are broken into smaller groups that can be solved with a single strategy - in opposition to teaching single facts. Instead of drilling, children will practice using six strategies through hands-on games, activities, and worksheets until they're automatic.

Six units are included, with each designed to take approximately one week. On day one, you'll use counters and a ten-frame to introduce the new strategy and teach your child a game that provides practice with the focus facts for the week. Lessons include scripted questions with answers, and plenty of direction for the teacher. For the remainder of the week, you continue to play the game and complete a short practice page each day (which include review from previous weeks).

It only takes about 15 minutes a day for a total of six weeks for children to learn sums from 1+1=2 to 9+9=18!

Ages 6 & up / Grades 1-4. Designed for children who have some exposure to numbers and addition, but don't know answers to addition problems automatically.

To complete the games and practice pages, you'll also need 15 small counters of two different colors, coins, two game tokens, paper and pencil, and two decks of playing cards (not-included).

131 pages, softcover. Reproducible for in-family use only. Organized with lessons at the beginning, followed by game boards, practice pages, and answer keys.

By Kate Snow / Well-Trained Mind Press

Help your child master multiplication facts 1 W 1 through 10 W 10 in just twenty minutes a day - without flash cards or rote memorization!
