Right Start Math, Level G: Learn middle school mathematics hands-on and visually using a geometric approach. With a drawing board, T-square, triangles, compass, and goniometer, the student explores fractions, area, ratios, angles, Pythagorean theorem, and square roots. Circles, pi, arcs, along with reflections, rotations, and symmetry are taught all the while practicing arithmetic, fractions, and decimals. Some algebraic concepts are introduced. The history of mathematics is woven throughout the lessons. Daily card games are included in the lessons. Students work independently. No prior work with RightStart Math is necessary to complete this level.
Pandia Press: Real Science Odyssey Physics: RSO Physics (level one) is appropriate for 3rd through 6th grade. This comprehensive course presents complicated physics concepts in a way that young people can comprehend and immediately apply to everyday play and work. Topics covered include the study of matter, motion, friction, work, sound and wave, magnetism, electricity, and even a glimpse into the quantum world. Students will not only learn Newton’s three laws of motion, but they will experiment with them and develop simple models of real-world applications such as rockets, auto safety, and electric motors. The course book offers a full-year curriculum, including all of the lesson pages, parent/teacher instructions, and lab worksheets.
Pandia Press: History Odyssey Early Modern: From the Stuart Dynasty to Lewis and Clark, Early Modern level two is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with literature, world geography, and writing activities. Students study events from early modern history, a time of nationalism and revolution: scientific, agricultural, industrial, French, and American. It was also a time of civil war and rebellion: English, Spanish, Scottish, Russian, and American. And it was a time of advancement and expansion: the Age of Reason, Galileo, Lewis and Clark, East India Trading Company, Mercantilism, and the Enlightenment. This comprehensive course covers success and failures of civilizations in Early Modern history from all parts of the world. Early Modern level two is a student guide that provides step by step lessons to teach world history from 1600 to 1850. Level 2 History Odyssey guides are written to be used independently by students with the parent/teacher assisting when necessary with lessons and assessing the student’s completed work. Early Modern level two does not require an answer key due to the subjectivity of the assignments that encourage critical thinking (i.e. there is rarely any one correct answer). Answer keys to map work are found in the main spine (The Kingfisher History Encyclopedia). A rubric is provided to assist in grading essay writing.
